USTOA Members Reveal Travel Trends for 2014

In an annual survey of travel forecasts and trends for the U.S. Tour Operators Association (USTOA), nine out of ten of active tour operator members anticipate a growth in sales in 2014 with nearly two-thirds of members “optimistic” and forecasting a “boom year” with growth anywhere from seven percent to ten percent or higher.   

The Cuban government has announced that it is shutting down nearly all of its consular services in the United States “until further notice,” because it was unable to find a bank willing to handle its business. The decision threatens to disrupt a recent surge in travel between the United States and Cuba on the eve of the holiday season.

NTA Announces Departure of President

NTA has announced that Lisa Simon, CTP, is stepping away from her role as the association’s president. Simon, who has been with NTA for twenty-eight years, seven in the position of president, said she reached this decision in the spirit of mutual benefit. “I have been with NTA for most of my professional career, and during that time, we have seen an incredible amount of growth and change. I believe this is the right time for me to find new challenges and the right time for new leadership to take the association into its next phase of growth.”

NTA Opens Travel Exchange to Travel Agents

Along with welcoming new members to Travel Exchange '14, NTA is opening the door to another group of first-time attendees: travel agents. Agents will participate at the Los Angeles-based convention on February 19 and 20, 2014, the last two days of the event.
