Take the time for giving thanks …

Written by

We are surrounded by thankful messages this time of the year. Why? Because it’s important. For many of us, the season often morphs into Black Friday, getting the holiday cards in the mail, and juggling the ever-hectic schedule. But how often do you really take a step back and look at what you have to be thankful for? Do you choose happiness when you look around, do take the time to appreciate what you have, or do you just focus on getting done what you have to do?

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what’s important. Not just in our personal life, but our professional life, as well. Don’t get me wrong: My family is priority, but my work life allows our family opportunities that we wouldn’t have without it. So, recently I took some time to think about what I’m thankful for at work—and here’s my Top 5 list.

1. Team. I truly have the most talented, creative, and hard-working team. If you surround yourself with people who believe in the vision, understand the goals, and want to be a part of the team, executing the plan is just the icing on the cake. I have fun coming to work every day—not just because I’m surrounded by great people, but also because we have the same destination in mind.

2.  Readers. Without our audience’s interest in our content, Serendipity Media would not be in existence. I am thankful every day that these groups of people engage with our products and services.

3.  Customers. Our customer base is extremely diverse. I am thankful every day that they trust our company to provide them with the tools to help grow their business. Trust is something that is earned, and they show us every day that we are doing our job.

4.  Vendors. We couldn’t do our job without the support of our vendor partners. From our printers to the post office, your continued offering of service is much appreciated.

5.  Roof over our head. As I’m writing this, it’s a winter wonderland outside, so I’m especially grateful for the heater in my office and the roof over our heads. Our office is the place that we gather, foster creativity, and engage with each other, so it’s important to say thanks regularly for something that’s easy to take for granted.

I hope this holiday season that you have a lot to be thankful for. When you take the time to make a list, you just might realize how fortunate you really are.
